August is almost over and soon we’ll know what to expect for next month’s PlayStation Plus lineup.
For PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers actually get a brand new game free with their subscription today: Sea Of Stars.
Sea Of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by old-school Final Fantasy and other classic JRPGs. It’s currently at 89/100 on Metacritic, which isn’t bad at all! That’s no surprise. From what I’ve played so far, the game is delightful, charming and loads of fun, especially if you grew up on games like Final Fantasy III.
Here’s the trailer:
Don’t forget to claim August’s titles before next Monday!
PS Plus Essential Titles For August, 2023

When Will Sony Reveal Next Month’s PS Plus Games?
Sony is set to reveal the next batch of PlayStation Plus Essential games on Wednesday, August 30th. Sony typically reveals the next month’s lineup on the last Wednesday of the month, though that’s not always the case. The new games are almost always released on the first Tuesday of the month, however, so we should expect whichever games come out to release on Tuesday, September 5th.
PS Plus March Leaks, Rumors And Predictions
There’s only been one leaked game for September’s lineup so far. The leak comes via regular PS Plus leaker billbil-kun at Dealabs. To my knowledge, he’s been accurate every time so I’m 99.99% sure this is accurate.
This means that one of next month’s three free PS Plus Essential games will be Saint’s Row—the 2022 rebooted version of the classic open-world crime games. This was not a huge hit and didn’t get the best reviews. I never played the full release, but from the content I previewed I found it pretty disappointing and tonally very unlike the games that came before in the original series.
But now it’s free for PS Plus subscribers so you may as well take it for a spin!
Predictions / wish-list below:
- The Order 1886
- Cult Of The Lamb
- Sifu
- Nier: Automata
- Insurgency Sandstorm
- Elden Ring
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Last September PS Plus subscribers got a pretty great lineup with lots of variety:
- Need for Speed Heat (PS4)
- Toem (PS5)
- Granblue Fantasy: Versus (PS4)
What do you hope to see in September’s PlayStation Plus lineup?
