Google Leak Reveals Surprising Pixel Watch 2 Design

This week, Google confirmed its latest “Made By Google” showcase will occur on October 4. The Pixel Watch 2, alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones, will launch during the event. While no details on the products at the event were confirmed, leaks from Google have given us a better idea of what to expect.

Although it was hastily removed, Google posted an image of a new smartphone and smartwatch on a page dedicated to subscriptions and services. Much of the attention has been on the smartphone in the picture, handily labelled “a person takes a call on a Pixel 8 Pro phone in Porcelain.”

Nothing in the alt text draws attention to the wearable in the picture. This is a shame because this is also our clearest look at what should be the Pixel Watch 2. The Android-powered wearable is expected to ship with a similarly sized screen to the first Pixel Watch, namely a round 1.2 inch OLED display.

More changes are expected inside the match with a move to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 system on chip offering more performance and efficiency, a larger 306 mAh battery, and one of the first platforms to run Wear OS 4.

Sadly, it looks like the inclusion of Ultra Wideband for better communication with nearby devices will not be in the final design, leaving this technology to be championed by the Pixel Tablet and Pixel 8 Pro.

Now read how Google is updating the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro design…
