Elon Musk recently advised in mid September, in a meeting with U.S. senators that we need to create an AI referee for Artificial Intelligence in a meeting with lawmakers, also attended by Google and Meta CEOs in a closed doors meeting discussing AI and legislation needs.
Musk has been an advocate for regulation of the AI Industry to ensure that companies take actions that are safe and in the interest of the general public. Musk applauded this meeting and that it would be a hallmark in history for protecting the future of humanity.
He also reinforced that AI is a double edged sword and there are inequities that need balancing.
Other note worthies attending the Congress includedL Maya Wiley, CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, Former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, etc.
Other positive developments are Adobe, IBM, Nvidia have signed President Joe Biden’s voluntary AI commitment to add water marks to AI generated content so you always know what content is human generated or AI generated.
Although AI Legislation is in draft form in the USA, and some states are advancing AI privacy legislation and developing laws to protect uses of AI in potentially dangerous situations, like fake news, fake videos, an encompassing set of safeguards that can become a bipartisan AI policy for congress to successfully pass has not yet been ratified. Hopefully in 2024, we can harmonize more.
