What with Charles Martinet recently retiring from his voice work on the Super Mario games, we now know that the new voice actor for Mario and Luigi is that of Kevin Afghani.
As per Afghani’s Twitter account (shown below) and studious datamining of a Super Mario Wonder demo by fans, the new voice of Mario and Luigi has been revealed.
Specifically, Afghani’s debut game will also be that of Super Mario Wonder, which is certainly a great way to start out.
Previously, Afghani voiced Arnold in Genshin Impact, but the 26 year old is seemingly pretty new to the industry.
That is no bad thing, as it makes sense that Nintendo would want someone fresh to work on Super Mario and make it their own.
As I am currently playing Super Mario Wonder to review it, I can safely say that Afghani does a great job and it’s hard to tell that the voice actors have even changed.
Obviously, I have a great deal of respect for Martinet’s performance as Mario and Luigi over the years, as well as a litany of other Super Mario characters, but I wish Afghani all the best and look forward to his further forays into the verdant Flower Kingdom.
Super Mario Wonder is released for the Switch on October 20.
