Looking for Tuesday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:

It’s Odin’s Day, and every Odin’s Day—in honor of the Norse god—we celebrate Wordle Wednesday with an extra riddle, brain-teaser or puzzle before we get to the daily Wordle. Here’s today’s:

A husband and wife are driving down a road one night when the car runs out of gas. The man leaves his wife in the car and hurries to a gas station down the road. He leaves the doors locked. When he returns, the doors are still locked but his wife is dead and there’s a stranger in the car. What happened?

I’ll post the answer in tomorrow’s Wordle guide. In the meantime, if you think you might have the answer, shoot me a DM on Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky or Facebook. Now let’s solve this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Drum.

The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter.

The Answer:

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

Well this didn’t go according to plan. CROAK left me with a whopping 274 words and just one yellow ‘O’ and FELON only slashed that number to 27. With not much else to go on, I kept juggling the boxes I had. SOUND slid the ‘O’ into green and MONTH finally gave me my second green box and left me with just two words. I’ll be honest, I only came up with BONGO so I was a little surprised to learn that GONZO was also an option. Thankfully, BONGO was the Wordle!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get -1 point for guessing in five and -1 for losing to the Bot, erasing my glorious gains from yesterday. The Bot gets 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating me, which narrows our May gap to:

Erik: 13 points

Wordle Bot: 8 points

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

English bongo “pair of small drums” comes via Spanish bongó—used in eastern Cuba by the late 19th century—from Bantu words such as ngoma or mgombo meaning “drum,” and is first attested in English around 1920
