Farewell, September. Hello, October. The days and weeks and months keep flying by, but some things never change: We have our Wordles and Pips and Mini Crosswords to solve. Let’s solve today’s Mini!

Looking for yesterday’s NYT Mini Crossword? Check out our hints and answers right here.

The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.

Spoilers ahead!

How To Solve Today’s Mini Crossword

Before we get to the answers, here’s the first letter for each word in today’s Mini.

Okay, onto the answers! Remember, spoilers ahead!

  • 7A. Negative attribute, so to speak — MINUS
  • 8A. Got some shut-eye — SLEPT

Down

  • 1D. Oven button with a “high” or “low” setting — BROIL
  • 2D. Get together again, like alumni — REUNE
  • 3D. Make go “Vroom!” — REV UP
  • 4D. Spots where you might spot some spotters — GYMS
  • 5D. Egg container — NEST

Here are the filled in answers:

I got a little sidetracked today while playing and ran up the clock a bit, but I was also tired from a long day and this was a surprisingly tricky little Mini. Some of these were strange, like 4-Across which I read as “Put ‘er there” not “Putt” and 3-Down — REUNE is just a strange version of reunion. I also sometimes forget to pay attention to tense, so I plugged in SLEEP instead of SLEPT at first. But I got there — eventually — with a 2:23 time. Ouch.

How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
