Today’s Wordle #735 Hints, Clues And Answer For Saturday, June 24th

Vacation is almost over, which I am of two minds about. I didn’t do everything I wanted while on the road, but I was hampered by both health issues and two teens in toe. Great kids, don’t get me wrong, but everything is a little bit harder when you have little ones—even if your little ones have grown into giants. Slumbering giants who stay up too late and sleep in too late.

At any rate, I am viewing the time after vacation as something of a new beginning. A clean slate. I have a lot of things to get done, from house projects to work stuff, but the most important of any of these is taking care of myself and feeling better, losing weight and getting in shape, and solving the mysterious maladies that have been upending my day-to-day.

For now, though, let’s do this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: A large and/or impressive thing.

The Clue: This word has way more consonants than vowels in it.

The Answer:

.

.

.

Grand!

Wordle Bot Analysis

It’s remarkable that you can get such a smashing opening guess and still take three to get the answer. I could have easily taken four or five had my second guess not made the Wordle so apparent.

In any case, tread was about as good an opener as you could hope for, leaving me with two green boxes and one yellow and—I later learned—only four remaining words. Doesn’t get much better than that.

I could think of a few words it could be but decided on brand because if the ‘N’ was wrong but the ‘B’ was right, I’d know the answer was braid and if the ‘B’ was wrong but the ‘N’ was right I’d know the answer was grand. And if none of the new letters was right, I was pretty sure the answer would be fraud. It was a good second guess for that reason, and sure enough led me right to the answer on number three: grand for the win!

Today’s Score: Much better guessing game today than yesterday. I get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 points for tying the Bot for a, ahem, grand total of 1 point. Huzzah!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “grand” has its origins in the Latin word “grandis,” which means “great” or “large.” The Latin word “grandis” itself is believed to have developed from the Proto-Indo-European root “*g’rendh-“, which also conveyed the sense of “great” or “large.”

Can you solve today’s phrase?

Over time, “grandis” evolved into various forms in different languages. In Old French, it became “grant,” which later transitioned into “grand” in Middle English. The term “grand” eventually made its way into modern English, retaining its meaning of “magnificent,” “imposing,” or “noble.”

The term “grand” is commonly used to emphasize the impressive or elevated nature of something. It can be found in a variety of contexts, such as “grandparent” (referring to a more senior generation of parents), “grandiose” (characterized by grandeur or excessive complexity), or “grandeur” (greatness or splendor).

Play Competitive Wordle Against Me!

I’ve been playing a cutthroat game of PvP Wordle against my nemesis Wordle But. Now you should play against me! I can be your nemesis! (And your helpful Wordle guide, of course). You can also play against the Bot if you have a New York Times subscription.

  • Here are the rules:1 point for getting the Wordle in 3 guesses.
  • 2 points for getting it in 2 guesses.
  • 3 points for getting it in 1 guess.
  • 1 point for beating Erik
  • 0 points for getting it in 4 guesses.
  • -1 point for getting it in 5 guesses.
  • -2 points for getting it in 6 guesses.
  • -3 points for losing.
  • -1 point for losing to Erik

You can either keep a running tally of your score if that’s your jam or just play day-to-day if you prefer.

I’d love it if you gave me a follow on Twitter or Facebook dearest Wordlers. Have a lovely day!

As always, I’d love it if you’d follow me here on this blog and subscribe to my YouTube channel and my Substack so you can stay up-to-date on all my TV, movie and video game reviews and coverage. Thanks!
