We knew that Armored Core VI was going to get some Robot Damashii toys, but the first one they’ve picked is of an end game boss, which is a bit weird.
Specifically, the design in question is that of IB-07: SOL 644 piloted by Ayre from the “bad ending” of the game. There is an additional variant from the “true ending” of the game, but that has a different configuration and coloring.
Whether this version of IB-07: SOL 644 will retain the transformation gimmick seen in the game is unclear but is probably unlikely.
While a few Robot Damashii figures attempt transformation, it’s more the Metal Robot Damashii variants where it is more commonplace.
This is because transformation places a lot of stress on the joints and articulation of a regular Robot Damashii figure. So this kind of thing is reserved for the Metal Robot Damashii toys, which have metal joints and sturdier internal parts.
I will be honest though; this is a weird choice for an action figure from Armored Core VI. I was expecting some of the more memorable Armored Cores, but an end game boss is just odd.
Mainly because if you look at the achievement statistics for Armored Core VI, only about 30-40% of players actually reached the end of the game. So more than 60% of players won’t even know what this mecha even is.
If I was so inclined, I would think that someone had it in for Armored Core VI and was actively trying to undermine the game.
From not revealing who designed the mecha in the game, to practically unknown mecha to make toys from. I mean, if you wanted to get the most out of the promotion for this game and actually give fans what they want, then this wouldn’t be it.
Hopefully this won’t be the only action figure released for Armored Core VI, but we will just have to wait and see.
Currently there is no price point or release date set for this Robot Damashii figure, but with any luck we will know more details soon.
