Brazil Among Most Optimistic Countries About AI, Study Says

Latin America, particularly Brazil, is among the countries that are most interested and enthusiastic about artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the world, a study has found.

Produced by visual content creation and marketing firm Getty Images, the study VisualGPS surveyed over 7,000 adults from over 25 countries. It found that four out of six Brazilians believe AI can have a positive impact on their lives, higher than the global average, where only half of those polled agreed with that prospect.

Brazilian consumers are 15% more interested in AI compared to the rest of the world, according to the study. In contrast to countries like the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and Australia, less than 34% of Brazilians feel threatened by the advancement of this technology.

Latin Americans (and Brazilians in particular) are “clearly captivated” by the promises AI offers in terms of efficiency, user experience improvements and new ways to approach complex challenges, the Getty study argues.

Despite its positive outlook, the company – which has launched its own AI image generator to respond to the interest in the technology among its clients – has also been discussing the concerns surrounding the adoption of artificial intelligence.

According to the company’s chief product officer Grant Farhall, the company has been involved in several discussions around intellectual property (IP). “We believe that AI needs to respect long-standing IP rights”, says the executive, adding the company trained its model with content for which there is a license and contributors will be compensated.

“We firmly believe in the power of creativity and authenticity that is best conveyed through the expertise of our creators and partners – AI is a tool, but we see it as additive versus a replacement for human connection that is best conveyed through human creation”, Farhall adds.
