Valve has released the patch notes for Dota 2 update 7.34c and there are a lot of much-needed nerfs to the strongest heroes such as Nature’s Prophet and Gyrocopter.
The 7.34c patch notes are all about balance, with buffs to the strongest heroes and nerfs to the ones that have been under performing. The biggest nerfs have come to the likes of Nature’s Prophet and Gyrocopter, two heroes that have been dominating both pro and pub matches at all levels.
Nature’s Prophet’s buffs from previous patches have been reversed, so now if someone eats a tree from his Sprout with a Tango it will once again give healing. This was the change that made Prophet a great support, as from level one he could trap enemies in a sprout for ages and to get out they would either have to waste a Tango or have a Quelling Blade. He also gets a big base agility nerf, going from 20 down to 14.
Gyrocopter on the other hand has had a slow damage creep over a few patches and has become a go-to carry for a lot of players in recent weeks. In the 7.34c patch notes, he too gets an agility nerf, this time changing his gain from 3.3 to 3.1. His Homing Missile stun has seen a stun duration nerf, and Flack Cannon gets a massive cooldown increase. His go-to talents have also been nerfed.
Other popular heroes such as Beastmaster, Dark Seer Treant Protector also all get nerfs, while Vengeful Spirit has also been given some nerfs, although they don’t seem quite as big, on paper at least, as other top heroes have got.
In terms of buffs, a lot of heroes have been given changes to try and increase their strength. Pugna gets some buffs with an intelligence increase and improvements to his heal, Ogre Magi becomes even tankier and can cast his spells a bit easier, and Nyx Assassin gets some big buffs across the board.
At first glance, this seems to be a solid patch for Dota 2 that should shake up the meta enough without totally changing everything. Of course, there will likely be some buffed heroes that become too strong, so you can probably expect a few more changes before we get to The International 12 later this year.
It was also announced that the cosplay competition at TI12 will feature a $20,000 prize pool and has been sponsored by SteelSeries.
