While there is no exact time for new Major Orders in Helldivers 2, they are usually around now, and hey, there we are, we finally have one. After the success of the Termicide deployment campaign last week, have a new Major Order that reads as follows:
- MAJOR ORDER: With the TCS securing our citizens’ lives, now we can secure their economic future, by culling the Terminid population and harvesting the E-710 they provide.
- Order Overview: Liberate Fori Prime and Zagon Prime. (planets)
Why is this surprising? The three-day Major Order is not some new invasion, but rather further clearing of a map that is almost completely empty at this point, with the vast, vast majority liberated, far more than when the game launched weeks ago.
As it stands right now, there are only six sectors that even have enemies left in them, two Automaton and four Terminid. If these two sectors containing Fori Prime and Zagon Prime are liberated, there will only be four enemy sectors in the entire map, which is wild.
As a three day order, I wonder if some surprise might be coming midway through the week here, as at some point, something is going to have to push back against the tide of our democracy spreading. Or we simply push everything out of the system and I guess…win Helldivers?
There is the constant threat looming of the Illuminate, the Helldivers 1 faction that has not yet appeared, and many believe they are going to arrive from the empty void in the south. Given that it has not been that long since launch, it is possible they aren’t going to show up for a while. But as of yet, last week’s mysteries of blue beams and a single player on Cyberstan did not yield anything with this new Major Order.
However, the way this has been going, there is something essentially every week that happens that’s unexpected, it just either isn’t right when the week starts or it is limited in scope enough where only a handful of players experience it. I have no doubt something similar will happen this week, it’s just too early to tell what it’s going to be.
This seems to me like the calm before the storm, and I was surprised something larger didn’t happen today. But something is coming, you can mark my words.
