Game designer, game director and executive vice president of PlatinumGames, Hideki Kamiya, will be leaving the renowned game studio he helped found this October.
Specifically, Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, and it’s not yet known where he will end up next. PlatinumGames also had an official statement on the matter.
Something that Kamiya then followed up on his own Twitter account, although not specifying on where his next job will be.
Kamiya has had a long and vibrant career designing classic games such as the original Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Okami and the peerless Bayonetta. Working at places like Capcom and then co-founding PlatinumGames.
He was also working on a new game at PlatinumGames called Project G.G., although it’s not clear what will happen to that game now that Kamiya is leaving the studio.
Kamiya has been a very opinionated and colorful character in gaming discourse. His support of retro games is also something he has been both passionate and vociferous about over the years.
Here’s hoping that wherever he works next is equally as supportive of his passion as PlatinumGames was.
