The time has come, dearest Strandastarians, to talk of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing-wax, of cabbages and kings. It’s also my last day writing Strands guides for the next couple weeks. I’ll be in April! Now let’s uncover some words. I hope you all have a lovely spring weekend!
Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.

Read on for today’s theme and some hints to help you uncover today’s words. Instead of giving you the first two letters of each word, today I’m giving out three hints instead of two.
Today’s Theme: Ode to the aubergine
Hint: As in, eggplant

Today’s Strands Breakdown
I found today’s spangram before any of the other words, because of course I went looking for EGGPLANT and when I found that I suspected it would be the spangram and thus searched further, quickly snagging DISH. This effectively bisected the grid, leaving me with two words on each side. I found RATATOUILLE right away, which honestly surprised me. Then PARMIGIANA and STUFFED. MOUSSAKA was the one that really stumped me, but since it was the only word I had left, I eventually sorted it out. Huzzah!
