Hong Kong-based Kandao Technology is best known for its intelligent conference room cameras, but now the company is branching out with a new 360° action camera for recording videos and still panoramas.
The QooCam 3 has dual fisheye lenses and can capture 360° videos in 5.7K resolution at a frame rate of 30FPS. When switched to stills mode, the camera can produce 360° panoramas at a resolution of 11K/62mp.
With F1.6 aperture lenses and dual 1/1.55-inch sensors, Kandao claims the new camera excels in low-light conditions. Integrated stabilization ensures seamless shooting in various scenarios, from aerial and handheld to biking and off-road racing.
At the heart of the QooCam 3 are two 1/1.55-inch sensors paired with F1.6 aperture lenses. Kandao says the camera can deliver image quality with the same quality as a camera with a 1″ sensor, producing bright and detailed images in low-light conditions.
As well as 360° images, the QooCam 3 can also capture ambisonic audio, providing spatial and immersive sound that matches the images in their scope. Using Audio SuperSteady processing, it doesn’t matter how the camera rotates during shooting; the recorded sounds always come from the correct direction.
The QooCam 3 can capture 62MP 360° photos and 5.7K 360° videos. The DNG8 mode with the RAW+ software enhances detail by capturing eight files in a single frame and then merging them into a single image.
Kandao Technology has a solid reputation for producing professional VR products, but the QooCam 3 is the company’s first consumer-grade action camera. The QooCam 3 isn’t just an action camera because it offers features like interval shooting with long-exposure and time-lapse functions. An advanced 6-axis gyroscope stabilizes each shot, whether shooting from the air or ground while biking or racing off-road with a mountain bike.
The QooCam 3 ships with a smartphone app for remote controlling the camera and sharing and editing images. PC software is available for those who want to take the post-processing to the next stage.
