Since the release of Armored Core VI, the game has been selling very well indeed and lots of streamers have been covering the game. However, the game’s difficulty seems to be a real issue for a lot of them.
A good example of this is the excellent streamer Asmongold as he tries to take on the second chapter boss Sea Spider. This is a tough fight, but much like the first level boss, you cannot just brute force it.
The clip below shows as Asmongold loses the will to live as the boss keeps on stomping his tank setup. Naturally, the viewers on the stream try to help him in the chat, but he keeps on with the same setup to no avail.
Eventually he listens to the advice in the chat and switches out his build. Again, the focus of the bosses in Armored Core VI is all about their stagger meter, something the first boss in the game is there to teach you.
Once you have staggered the Sea Spider, you can then go in and pummel it for decent chunks of damage.
This difficulty is not a new thing for the Armored Core series, if anything it’s where the Souls games got it from in the first place. After all, one of the first missions in Armored Core Last Raven was incredibly difficult and that was genuinely shocking. It didn’t just filter newbies but experienced players as well.
In that regard, Armored Core VI is definitely on par with other games in the Armored Core series, but I think that it’s overdue popularity is showing how difficult these games can be and that is taking quite a few people by surprise.
