A Romanian luxury audio brand has just announced its latest pair of audiophile headphones the Meze Audio 109 Pro Primal. The 109 Pro Primal is a special edition of Meze’s award-winning 109 Pro headphones and the latest addition to the company’s exclusive Meze Audio Art Gallery collection. The 109 Pro Primal headphones are handmade by artisans with a wood crafting heritage. The woodworking skill combines the latest audio technology in a sustainable design with a timeless look.
The founder and lead designer of the company, Antonio Meze, says: “As locals of Maramures, our philosophy of life is intertwined with the ancient forests that surround us, and we are taught to appreciate and respect this craft from the youngest age. With Primal, we took up this deep-rooted skill and shaped it into a new perspective on headphone design.”
The 109 Pro Primal has walnut earcup frames that have been chiseled groove by groove and are then finely sanded to a superbly smooth feel before being given a coat of linseed oil. The oil provides the wood with a natural, matte texture that brings out the wood’s natural grain and reveals its natural color.
All the models in the Meze range of headphones are crafted with the principle of “Graba strică treaba.” This Romanian expression translates into English as “Haste ruins the work.” The philosophy emphasizes the importance of taking enough time to produce a product and ensuring that the result is something to be proud of.
This latest addition to the Meze Audio range is built around sustainability. The headphones are designed to be taken apart and serviced endlessly if ever needed. This approach can extend the life of the headphones almost infinitely. Everything, from the cables to the ear cups, can be easily replaced and upgraded by the user.
