Battlestate Games has announced that a new Escape From Tarkov patch will launch tomorrow, May 30, with the servers expected to go down for around three hours while it is installed.
In a post on X the official Escape From Tarkov account revealed that the new patch will be installed starting at 8:00 am BST/3:00 am EDT tomorrow, with the downtime expected to take at least three hours. However, as we have seen many times before, that could be extended further. You will not be able to play Escape From Tarkov during this time.
The patch will be 0.14.8.6 and is being listed as a technical update, which likely means we won’t get any major changes with the patch. As usual, no patch notes have been released yet with them typically arriving once installation starts. However, given that we are also expecting a TarkovTV stream sometime this week, it would not be a surprise if we get no patch notes and this update adds some things that will be launched as part of the stream.
No date for the TarkovTV steam has been announced just yet. But it was revealed by Nikita that one is due this week and with just a couple of days left you can expect it sooner rather than later.
Even if the patch doesn’t add some fun new content, it will hopefully address some of the issues that have cropped up in recent days. While the changes to the fog on all maps have been great, some of the fog weather effects have proven problematic with people seeing different things depending on if they are looking up or down. A fix for this will hopefully be included in the upcoming patch.
It may also include improvements for matchmaking times in the PvE game mode, which is proving a lot more popular than anyone seemed to think. Wait times for PvE games have been high since all Edge of Darkness owners were given access to the mode, and while more servers are clearly needed a patch could make changes to how matchmaking works to reduce queue times.
If you are looking for bigger changes then you will likely have to wait for the next wipe, which is expected in the coming weeks. While it is likely to be a smaller wipe patch than usual given the team is preparing content for the game’s launch, it should still include a few big changes that they will be keen to test before moving to 1.0.
