Looking for Tuesday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:

It’s Wordle Wednesday which means we have an extra brain-teaser to solve before we get to today’s Wordle. Every Wednesday I hand out a riddle, brain-teaser or logic-puzzle to solve just to keep things spicy. Today’s i

Brain Teaser: Towering Trouble

In the land of Skyreach, four giants—Brumm, Eldra, Tharn, and Gorrik—each set out to build a massive tower. They each work at a different pace, and each one faces a unique problem that delays their progress. No two giants share the same building speed (fastest, second fastest, third fastest, slowest) or the same problem. Based on the clues below, can you determine the order in which the giants finish building their towers?

The Giants:

Setbacks:

Play Puzzles & Games on Forbes

  • One giant ran out of stone and had to wait a day for more
  • Lightning struck one giant’s tower, damaging it
  • One giant got distracted by a wandering minstrel
  • One giant overslept and started late

Clues:

  1. Brumm is not the fastest builder but didn’t oversleep.
  2. The one who was struck by lightning finished immediately after Gorrik.
  3. Tharn is slower than Eldra, but he didn’t get distracted.
  4. The fastest builder had to wait a day for more stone.
  5. The one who got distracted by the minstrel did not finish last.
  6. Eldra wasn’t struck by lightning.
  7. The slowest builder finished before the one who overslept.

In what order did the giants finish their towers?

If you think you know the answer, shoot me a message on Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky or Facebook. I’ll post the solution tomorrow. Now let’s solve this Wordle!

(See last week’s Wordle Wednesday challenge here, it’s a good one).

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

PLATE was a good opener today, getting me three yellow boxes and leaving just 48 possible solutions. GREAT juggled yellow into green and left me with only three words. Unfortunately, I picked CHEAT next and that was not the Wordle. I had to go one more round for WHEAT. Sigh.

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 0 points and the Wordle Bot gets 0 points today, leaving us at an April total of:

Erik: -2 points

Wordle Bot: 5 points

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “wheat” comes from the Old English “hwǣte,” which is related to “hwīt,” meaning “white.” This connection likely refers to the pale color of wheat flour. The root traces back to the Proto-Germanic *hwaitjaz (also meaning “white”) and ultimately to the Proto-Indo-European root *kʷeit-, meaning “to shine” or “white.” So, the word “wheat” essentially evolved from terms meaning “white grain.”
