Welcome back to your daily Wordle guide on this fine Thor’s day. I’ve been thinking about Thor and his fellow gods and goddesses lately mostly because it’s been quite rainy and grey with plenty of rolling thunder. Thunder always calls to mind wrathful gods.
In any case, yesterday was Wordle Wednesday and today I’ll share the solution.
Yesterday’s riddle was:
You’re escaping a labyrinth, and there are three doors in front of you. An old man stands in front of the doors and tells you what’s behind each one: The door on the left leads to a raging inferno. The door in the center leads to a deadly assassin. The door on the right leads to a lion that hasn’t eaten in three months.
Which door do you choose?
The answer: The door on the right. A lion who hasn’t eaten in three months would be dead! Kudos to everyone who messaged me the answer!
Okay, time to do this Wordle!

Wordle Bot Analysis
After each Wordle I solve I head over to the Wordle Bot homepage to see how my guessing game was.
I got lucky with today’s word. It’s a tough one! If I hadn’t eliminated all but 8 possible solutions with crazy (a starting guess so crazy it just might work!) I think this would have taken me more than three guesses.
Fortunately, mayor slashed the remaining number to just 1. I didn’t realize that at the time, and I admit it took me quite a while to actually come up with rayon for the answer mainly because I’m not actually familiar with this word (it’s a type of synthetic material that’s also called synthetic silk). Since it was the only word left I eventually got it. Huzzah!
Today’s Score
I tied the Bot today, so that’s 0 points for the tie and 1 point for guessing in three. 1 point total!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “rayon” has its origins in the French language. It comes from the French word “rayon,” which means “beam” or “ray.” The term was used because of the way rayon fibers are manufactured. Rayon is a synthetic fiber, and its production involves extruding a viscous solution of cellulose (often derived from wood pulp) through tiny holes, creating long, thin filaments or “rays” of fiber. These filaments are then spun into yarn or woven into fabric. The word “rayon” reflects this process of extruding and spinning the fibers into fine threads, resembling beams or rays. Rayon is also sometimes referred to as “artificial silk” due to its silk-like appearance and feel.
