Today’s Wordle #806 Hints, Clues And Answer For Sunday, September 3rd

Sometimes when I run out of clever things to say in my daily Wordle guide, or have nothing much to ruminate over, or am simply tired or lazy or have a bit of writer’s block, I turn to history for help. On this day—September 3rd—throughout history, these major historical events occurred:

  1. 1189 – Richard the Lionheart was crowned King of England at Westminster Abbey.
  2. 1658 – Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, died.
  3. 1783 – The Treaty of Paris was signed, officially ending the American Revolutionary War and recognizing the United States’ independence from Great Britain.
  4. 1838 – Frederick Douglass escaped from slavery in Maryland and went on to become a prominent abolitionist and civil rights activist.
  5. 1939 – World War II began when Britain and France declared war on Germany following the invasion of Poland.
  6. 1943 – Allied forces liberated Naples, Italy, during World War II.
  7. 1967 – The Swedish driving law switched from driving on the left side of the road to driving on the right side, known as Dagen H (“H Day”).
  8. 1976 – Viking 2, an American spacecraft, landed on Mars and transmitted images and data back to Earth.
  9. 2004 – The Beslan school siege in North Ossetia, Russia, ended tragically with the deaths of over 330 people, mostly children.
  10. 2017 – North Korea conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test, leading to international condemnation and tensions.

Alright, let’s do this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

Wordle Bot Analysis

After each Wordle I solve I head over to the Wordle Bot homepage to see how my guessing game was.

I didn’t start off that well today. Trope only got me one yellow box and 151 words remained. But chain slashed that number down to just two. I actually only came up with await but Wordle Bot informed me later that staid was also an option. Fortunately for me, I was right!

Today’s Score

I get 1 point for guessing in three but 0 points for tying Wordle Bot, so 1 point total. Huzzah!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “await” has its origins in the Old English language. It is derived from the Old English word “āwæitan,” which is a combination of “ā” (meaning “on”) and “wæitan” (meaning “to watch” or “to wait”). Over time, the word evolved and simplified into “await” in modern English.

Play Competitive Wordle Against Me!

I’ve been playing a cutthroat game of PvP Wordle against my nemesis Wordle But. Now you should play against me! I can be your nemesis! (And your helpful Wordle guide, of course). You can also play against the Bot if you have a New York Times subscription.

Can you solve today’s phrase?

  • Here are the rules:
  • 1 point for getting the Wordle in 3 guesses.
  • 2 points for getting it in 2 guesses.
  • 3 points for getting it in 1 guess.
  • 1 point for beating me
  • 0 points for getting it in 4 guesses.
  • -1 point for getting it in 5 guesses.
  • -2 points for getting it in 6 guesses.
  • -3 points for losing.
  • -1 point for losing to me

You can either keep a running tally of your score if that’s your jam or just play day-to-day if you prefer.
