Amazon’s ‘Invincible’ Season 2 Finally Gets A Release Date, Plus A New Trailer

While everything is grinding to a halt because of the Writers and Actors Strikes, a few shows that are already finished are squeezing out over the course of the next few months. And one of them, Invincible season 2, we’ve been waiting forever for.

Amazon has just debuted a new trailer for Invincible season 2, mainly showing off its expansive voice cast. But it also has a release date, November 3, 2023. The first season came out all the way back in April of 2021, meaning it’s going be essentially two and a half years between seasons 1 and 2.

Why did it take so long for Invincible season 2 to come out? Take your pick of reasons: The Pandemic, creator Robert Kirkman’s legal issues with an alleged Invincible co-creator, and of course the basic fact that…animation takes a very long time. Most anime fans are used to running into very, very long waits between seasons of certain shows.

The trailer isn’t giving a whole lot of the plot away, but we know it’s about the multiverse, which is not trend-following, it’s from the source material, and reportedly handled quite a bit better than what we’ve seen from the MCU lately.

As I said, the main point of the trailer is to show off the voice cast, which already includes Steven Yeun, JK Simons, Sandra Oh and Gillian Jacobs. But in addition to the old cast, we have an insane amount of new members, which include (deep breath):

Sterling K. Brown, Peter Cullen, Rob Delaney, Calista Flockhart, Phil LaMarr, Luke MacFarlane, Tatiana Maslany, Scott McNairy, Jay Pharoah, Ella Purnell, Tim Robinson, Ben Schwartz, Rhea Seehorn, Lea Thompson, Paul F. Tompkins, Shantel VanSanten, Peter Cullen.

No doubt you recognize many of those names from either live action or their voicework. Some big gets in there, which is no huge surprise, given the voice cast of season 1. The best is probably Peter Cullen, voice of Optimus Prime, whose character is featured at the end of the trailer.

If you have not watched the two-and-a-half-year-old Invincible season 1 yet, I highly recommend you do so before November 3. Yes, it’s another gory superhero show like The Boys, but equally as good in many ways and still somehow dramatically different and definitely its own thing. Give it a shot while the rest of us salivate for season 2, arriving at long last.
