Overwatch 2 Streamer ‘Hacker’ Reveals His Identity And A New PvE Trailer

Over the last week or so, something weird has been going on with certain Overwatch 2 streams. A hacker appeared to briefly take over the streams of Shroud, Kyedae and Scump at various times.

This was, of course, a marketing tactic to hype up the Overwatch 2: Invasion season, which will start on August 10. The shadowy figure known as The Enigma spoke in a distorted voice and warned of the threat of a Null Sector invasion.

But now we know the identity of the person behind The Enigma. And his name is John Cena! (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted references to Cena in his appearances as The Enigma, including his middle names and birthday. Cena also posted a screenshot of an Overwatch 2 video on his zany Instagram account.

“It’s been fun seeing the Overwatch community try to put a face to The Enigma,” Cena said in a statement. “Sometimes a face you can’t see is just what the world needs to sound the alarm of a looming, worldwide threat.”

Blizzard is going pretty heavy on marketing Overwatch 2 ahead of the season 6 launch. This is easily the biggest update to the game since we moved over to the sequel in October and it’s effectively a soft relaunch of Overwatch 2 given all the news stuff we’re about to check out.

Cena will remain involved in hyping up Overwatch 2: Invasion ahead of the season going live. You can find out more about The Enigma and the threat he’s trying to warn everyone about on a dedicated website. In the meantime, Cena (or The Enigma) has revealed a new trailer for the PvE Story Missions you’ll be able to check out when Invasion goes live.
