Welcome back to another Monday in the world of the living. Here we go again, one more rotation, one more spin. One more dawn to dusk.

I figured we’d take a gander back on this day in history and see what major world-changing events have taken place over the centuries. On this day:

  1. 1880: Construction of Cologne Cathedral in Germany was completed after 632 years of work.
  2. 1935: The Social Security Act became law in the United States, establishing a system of old-age benefits for workers, benefits for victims of industrial accidents, unemployment insurance, aid for dependent mothers and children, and various forms of welfare.
  3. 1945: Japan announced its surrender in World War II, effectively bringing an end to the war. This led to the formal signing of the surrender documents on September 2nd, 1945, which is known as V-J Day (Victory over Japan Day).
  4. 1975: The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a cult classic musical film, had its world premiere in London.
  5. 1994: Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, also known as “Carlos the Jackal,” was captured by French authorities after years on the run. He was a notorious international terrorist and guerrilla fighter.
  6. 2003: A major power outage affected parts of the northeastern United States and Ontario, Canada. It left around 50 million people without electricity for several hours.
  7. 2013: Egyptian security forces cracked down on two protest camps in Cairo, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries. The camps were occupied by supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi.
  8. 2018: The collapse of the Morandi Bridge in Genoa, Italy, resulted in the deaths of 43 people. The bridge collapse raised concerns about infrastructure safety in Italy and other countries.

Bridges, cathedrals, infamous assassins, the Rocky Horror Picture Show . . . good times! Alright, let’s do this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Venomous.

Wordle Bot Analysis

Not too shabby today. Rainy was a super lucky opening guess, leaving me with just five words to choose from. I went with aunty because one of my daughter’s friends recently told me that I reminded her of her aunty, which is a new one for me. I don’t think anyone has told me that before!

Can you solve today’s phrase?

That slashed my options down to just one: snaky for the win!

Today’s Score

I tied the Bot today. 1 point for guessing in three; 0 points for the tie. 1 point grand total! Huzzah!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “snaky” is derived from the noun “snake,” which refers to a long, legless reptile. The term “snaky” is an adjective used to describe something that is reminiscent of a snake or has qualities associated with a snake. It is often used metaphorically to describe something that is sly, devious, or cunning, similar to the behavior of a snake.

The word “snake” itself has an Old English origin, derived from the Proto-Germanic word “snēkaz” and is related to similar words in other Germanic languages. The association of snakes with stealthiness and treacherous behavior likely influenced the development of the adjective “snaky” to describe such traits in a figurative sense.

Play Competitive Wordle Against Me!

I’ve been playing a cutthroat game of PvP Wordle against my nemesis Wordle But. Now you should play against me! I can be your nemesis! (And your helpful Wordle guide, of course). You can also play against the Bot if you have a New York Times subscription.

  • Here are the rules:
  • 1 point for getting the Wordle in 3 guesses.
  • 2 points for getting it in 2 guesses.
  • 3 points for getting it in 1 guess.
  • 1 point for beating me
  • 0 points for getting it in 4 guesses.
  • -1 point for getting it in 5 guesses.
  • -2 points for getting it in 6 guesses.
  • -3 points for losing.
  • -1 point for losing to me

You can either keep a running tally of your score if that’s your jam or just play day-to-day if you prefer.

I’d love it if you gave me a follow on Twitter or Facebook dearest Wordlers. Have a lovely day!

As always, I’d love it if you’d follow me here on this blog and subscribe to my YouTube channel and my Substack so you can stay up-to-date on all my TV, movie and video game reviews and coverage. Thanks!
